Publications

I am proud to contribute to lots of projects and research with my work. Bridging the gap between science and art can make a world of difference within science communication. This is the case for children's books all the way to published journal articles.

I’m very interested in continuing to create illustrations for science education/publications and for many other nature related projects. So if you are interested in my work, feel free to contact me via email (conningtonart@gmail.com) or via my contact form.

Wilma on the Wing
Author and Illustrator | 2022
Gouache & Digital

"Wilma on the Wing" is short children's book that I wrote and illustrated in collaboration with the Intermountain Bird Observatory with the purpose of creating an accessible and engaging way to teach children about migration and bird banding. The story follows and adult female Wilson's Warbler, Wilma, on her migratory journey from Alaska to Mexico where she encounters competition, predation, and being caught and banded at a research station. She is based off of an actual Wilson's Warbler first banded in Denali National Park, Alaska, USA and then recaught just weeks later at Camas National Wildlife Refuge in Hamer, Idaho, USA. We have also translated this book into Spanish!
